Feisty Pants

September 4th, 2008 by Kateastrophe

Some days I wish my blog was anonymous so I could say the mean things that go through my head.  I’m kind of an awful person lately, with mean, mean thoughts.  Mean horrible thoughts.  Thoughts that would make my family and friends (hi guys!) question my sanity –  which, let’s be honest, was sort of in question already.

I’m a fickle, moody, selfish brat sometimes.  Yes I am.  I think it might have something to do with my new red hair.  When I have red hair, it’s like I give myself permission to be all Irish and feisty.  Rarr.

See?  Red = Feisty

Who really knows.  Maybe it’s hormones.  Maybe it’s the nastly cold that’s traveling through my office and slowly finding it’s way through me.  Maybe it’s the heat starting to get to me.  Whatever it is, I’m going to hesitantly say that I’m sort of enjoying my new found fire.  Matt on the other hand is probably hating me right now.  Bring it on, mister.  Bring. it. on.

Also, all politics aside, have you ever seen anything cuter than Sarah Palin’s little baby boy Trig??  He just makes my heart melt.

Also, I am very random.  In case you were wondering.

That is all.

I remember the week in my life when I was the most grouchy, mean and just felt kinda dark. I didn’t know what was going on at the time because it had been too early for me to know that I WAS PREGNANT (with my first). Just thought I’d share.

And cute hair. Yours is probably just your hair. . .

Having heard, or STARTED some of the mean thoughts in your head over the last little bit- I support it 100%. Love you!!!

Um…heat + a cold = license to be mean. I’m not saying everyone’s going to want to hang out with you, but how are you supposed to have a cold when it’s hot and be pleasant? I’m just saying….

(I’m not sure how to spell the cat-calling whistle noise that I wanted to leave in this comment, so you’ll just have to use your imagination.)

Love the hair. Love feisty, random Kate. :-D

I used to be a redhead. I loved it. It was like I finally had an explanation. Or an excuse.

    Very cute, you! :)

Wait. Just wait. This is peculiar. You seem to be proceeding from some unstated assumptions, which have piqued my interest (which is always trouble). These are thus: (1) By default Kate does not think nasty thoughts, but rather kind, uncritical, and wholly charitable thoughts. (2) Also by default, Kate thinks only thoughts which, if discovered by others, would not create doubt as to her sanity, indeed, they would inspire confidence in her steadiness of mind and grasp of reality.

The argument then flows as outlined: (1) These two states of events have changed (Kate’s thoughts are now both mean and would cast a dubious shadow on her sanity); (2) something must have happened to effect this change in the state of events; (3) several causes are posited, most notably (and graphically) a change in hair color. Ok.

If I were attempting to gainsay this argument (which, yes, I am), I would strike first at the assumptions, without touching the argument.

You may have these people fooled, but I know you never needed a change in hair color to speak your mind (oh so fully). Nor a hormonal spike. Nor a cold. Nor a hot[season]. None of these things are required. Only a person to explain yourself to.

And yet something important may indeed have changed. If I had to theorize (and I really must) I would say it’s not that you are more critical or less sane, but that you have simply spent some time reflecting on what you perceive to be your “awful person”-ness or your questionable sanity. While both of these attributes are no doubt exaggerated here (!), I would point out that a little insanity and a critical eye generally attend talented minds. Those that would be happy, must simply become aware of them. (and then, of course, address them…but I’m not in the mood)

And so, I would say, given this change in events (which I’m hypothesizing is a rare but essential increased awareness and sensitivity), you are in very good stead indeed. (Except you have a cold. And hormones. And it’s hot as hell. But whatever.) And I’m heartily proud (of you, not just generally, although I’m probably that too)!

And the hair is good. I like it.

  13. Jewels Says:

Um…not to be bratty, myself…but I have always thought you were sort of spicey - red hair or not. That is why I LOVE you! Mostly when I’m not the cause of said feistiness…I’m not, right?

  14. charrette Says:

The red absolutely suits you — you look great!
Now that you’re a feisty redhead you really must go rent the Quiet Man and see Maureen O’Hara (the original feisty redhead) in action.
