We did practically NOTHING this weekend.  And I loved it.

You might have noticed that I’ve been running around the planet like a chicken with my head cut off for the last . . . oh . . . three months.  Sitting around and being a lazy butt was exactly what the (hypothetical) doctor ordered.

I guess I did SOME stuff.  Like improve my score on Link’s Crossbow for the Wii.  I’m totally kicking Matt’s butt.

I also won TEN Free Cell games in a row.  That takes talent, people.  Pure talent.

We watched “The Technology of Batman” on the History Channel (could I be a bigger nerd?)

Our neighbors invited us over for peanut butter chocolate pie (um, SO good) and then he told us he had the creepiest X-Files ever on his DVR.  THE INBRED ONE (officially called “Home”)Does anyone besides me remember the terror of that episode the first time you watched it?  (Hannah and Jewels, I’m speaking to you specifically.)  Also the fact that it was only ever aired on TV as a re-run ONCE for a Halloween special because it was THAT SCARY??  Yeah, twelve years later?  It’s just as bad.  And creepy, and gross.  And weird.  And the song “Wonderful, Wonderful” by Johnny Mathis is ruined forever.  I just got the chills thinking about it.

We also went to church (not unusual for us in general, but we’ve been either out of town or out of commission for a while) and discovered that Angie, one of Matt’s best friends growing up, moved into our neighborhood and goes to church with us!  We were so excited to see her!  The world is seriously such a small place.  It’s almost creepy sometimes.  The last time we saw Angie was at our wedding.  Now we get to see her all the time.  So great.

I made chicken asparagus risotto that Matt actually liked!  He never likes risotto.  Ever.  I’m totally addicted.  That has posed a problem because I’m the cook and when I ‘m in the mood for something, he usually just has to deal with it.  I’m always in the mood for pasta or risotto and he considers both side dishes, not a main course.  See the problem?  Well, now I’ve at least sort of solved the risotto issue . . . until he gets sick of it!

I finished the book I’ve been devouring this week, “The Life of Pi.”  It was really great.  If you haven’t read it, I highly recommend it.  It’s odd in a very . . . amazing, redeeming sort of way.

Now I am going to re-read the Twilight books before the fourth one comes out on Saturday.  That’s right, all three of them.  Good thing I have an airport and a plane ride in there (and that they are in semi-large type).  If you haven’t read the Twilight books and you’re a girl, you should RUN to the nearest bookstore.   They’re not necessarily the best written or most amazing books I’ve ever read, but they are the most addictive and entertaining.  Definitely worth reading, especially before the movie comes out in December.

Also, on top of being a boring person this weekend, I’ve realized that my blog is a wee bit boring right now.  I’m working to remedy that . . . I am writing (finally!) the next part of my long forgotten Soap Opera Saga as well as coming up with some other (hopefully) interesting topics.  We’ll see.

Now I guess I’d better work or something.  Or something sounds good.

Well, I’m glad to see you finally spotlighted Twilight. A girl-blog just isn’t girl-blog without a proper mention of Twilight. Of course it’s not the flashing side banner indicating that these are the best books ever, but this will do. For now.

Oooooooooo! CREEPY!!! I hated/loved that one!! HAHAH! That’s why I’m excited for the movie…all these years later.

As for Twilight, yes we did have this conversation via email…

Girl, we are psychically linked or something!! I had NO IDEA you’d written about Home AND I just received my copies of the first three Twilight books from Amazon and signed up for the pre-order of the fourth. Crazy!!

  5. Alison Wonderland Says:

That episode must have re-aired more than once I’ve seen it twice and I know I didn’t see it the first time around. But it is seriously creepy, that’s for sure!
    Bring on the SOS!

  6. Brillig Says:

Okay, to Bryan I want to point out that writing about Twilight AND a Wii game all in one post means that they cancel each other out… This blog remains gender neutral. Wait. No. That’s not what I mean. Kate, you are NOT gender neutral, I promise. Awww, crap.

Hey, at least your site is blue. Wait… wrong thing to say again?

    :-D

And yes, I’ll be lining up at midnight to buy the book. Sad but true. Mostly it’s because I really think I need to be on top of the pop culture world. Come Monday of next week, it’s all anyone will be talking about. I need to be able to say my two-cents, right?

    :-D

Maybe I could ramble a little more in this comment. It’s just not long enough or scatter-brained enough for me.

Dude…THIS is the reason I’m alone. I LOVED that episode. Wendy and I were just talking about that the other day. That and the vampire episode were my fav’s. Come up here and we’ll go to the movie together.

  8. Jan Says:

Um, your risotto sounds killer! And I loved Life of Pi. (Especially the pull-the-rug-out-from-under-you ending.) And the twilight series sounds perfect for your airplane adventure.

    Sometimes boring is so-so-so good.

Weekends of “nothing” are to be treasured - sounds like you did yours up right!

  12. goofball Says:

I liked the Life of Pi!!!

And weekends of doing nothing are so great…I do need to get more of those urgently myself!

  13. VirtualSprite Says:

Ooohh… I had almost forgotten about that episode. Ubercreepy! Especially when they pull the woman out from under the bed. Gah!

After all those endorsements, I’m definitely going to have to check out those books. I can’t believe I’ve never read them!

Oh, and so not boring. Never boring.

  14. Jewels Says:

OH MY GOSH!!! That episode was so freaking scary!!! I don’t care what anyone says, FREA. KY. I can’t believe you watched it again! I have not the spine. Glad you had a great weekend!

  15. Bryan Says:

I was like “Frea, Kentucky? Is that like a spooky old town or something?” Oh. Right. Free-kee. Gotcha.
