I feel the same way about my Mom. When we moved away from my hometown it was so hard to get used to not talking to her or seeing her every day. We still miss her all the time.

Holy Time-to-sever-the-umbilical-cord, Batman. Nah, I’m just kidding. I totally get that. I used to call my mom whenever one of the kids got sick. “Mom, she has a rash and a fever and she’s puking. Fix her!” Or when someone spilled something on the ground– like that time that Nathan turned a bottle of maple syrup upside down… onto the carpet. That was a “MOMMMY! How do I get a liter of maple syrup out of my carpet?”

But now she’s gone, and I find that I actually do okay without her! Who knew?

I’m always a wreck when my mom is MIA also–it’s so strange, because we definitely had some rocky years when I was growing up, but now she’s at the top of my speed dial! (That’s metaphorical–do people actually still use speed dial anyway?)

Ironically, my mom had the same reaction last night when she couldn’t get in touch with me. I wonder if this smacks of co-dependence.

I can SO relate to this, because my sister and I FLIP OUT when we can’t get a hold of mother. She has to get special cell phone coverage whenever she goes on vacation because we might die if we couldn’t reach her.
